London Art Fair 2024

The London Art Fair 2024 showcased 120 galleries with over 1,200 works of art from around the world. On display were well-known names such as Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst along with many up and coming British artists. There were others however from as far as the Dominican of which the first one appears here. Bold in colour Pauline Marcelle's After the Sunrise shows the joyful everyday scenery of her hometown. Born in the Dominican she grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the island and its peoples. Here we see three youths celebrating the day smiling at their lucky environment. Frank Bjorklund's Air Balloons on the other hand is an intricate layering of the real and the surreal. In the artwork we see a woman holding balloons accompanied by a tiger in the middle of traffic. It's a highly unlikely encounter but interesting nonetheless.  James Mortimer's Island with Mountains is a utopian landscape painting full of naked figures surrounded by water and mountains. It is intriguing to watch the juxtaposition and we wonder where this could possibly exist. All in all it was an impressive art fair and I hope you enjoy these as well as others too.
