Artist Spotlight: British-Israeli artist Gideon Rubin Shows His Sensual Side

London-based artist who originally hails from Israel likes to depict the sensual side of his female figures. Notably, these are women whose faces are indiscernible and whose identity is a question mark. We see a hint of the erotic in some of them while others are more subdued. The colours are soft and the palette equally balanced. Mr. Rubin's paintings evoke memory, nostalgia as well the female beauty in a manner that is unique and encompasses his signature style. There is playfulness in his work, even joy, and we wonder why doesn't want to express more fully the subjects in a fuller light. But alas that is his style. Mystery is omnipresent the averted gaze and faceless figures deliver more than just our curiosity. They direct the viewer to a blatant sensuality that confronts and elates. Mr. Rubin is a well-known artist who is highly regarded and I hope we see more of his work in the future. Enjoy.
