Art Palm Beach 2025

Art Palm Beach is a lesser known fair but it is quickly becoming on the art market's radar. Located on the coast of Florida it features over 1,000 works of art. My first selection is that of Indian American artist Parvaze's art. The contrast in his Botanical I Vibrant is that of almost primary colours. It's a vibrant work and beautiful in its rendering. Suspended in space it sits outside of its natural habitat. Meanwhile Canadian artist, Martin Brouilette gives us a thoughtful abstract work to contemplate. The colours here have a pleasing palette and playful bursts of colour and doodles are a part of the composition. It is a layered work full of nuance and we wonder at the artist's intentions. On the other hand, Damien Hirst's Civilisation Exploding is an extraordinary rendering of a garden in full bloom. It is robust in in its colour scheme and almost chaotic in its busyness. Ayobola Kekere Ekun's Oya Confessional II, is a mixed media work that uses paper to achieve its success. The artist uses cutouts of paper giving her subjects large eyes to entice the viewer. She studies black identity and the way women are perceived in her culture. Enjoy these and other works as well.

Art Basel Miami 2024

Art Basel Miami is always eventful and this year was no different. It's not surprising that the art fair draws artists from around the world. It's truly a must-see and when you view the artworks below you'll know why. Take for example the luminous rendering of a cityscape by Mark Innerst in On Locust. The city shimmers like jewelry in the night sky. It could be any city but the dazzling lights give the painting a new dimension. The cityscape is alight and we see the beauty of the skyscrapers compared to the lower vicinity. There's a breakdown in the composition and we can only wonder where this is. It is most likely NYC and all the signs point in that direction. It never sleeps and the lights make it so.

Winold Reiss's Portrait of Robert Nathaniel Dett, personifies dignity and composure at its finest. Mr. Robert Nathaniel Dett was a Canadian-American musician who is well regarded to this day.  Mr. Reiss captures him with perfect ease as Mr. Dett poses relaxed and almost removed from his ever day setting. He is impeccably dressed and his brilliance is as palpable as much as the artist who painted him. Mr. Reiss celebrates Mr. Dett's career with this portrait and it's a work that should really hang in a museum.

In Pheobe Boswell's to know love we see harmony and union juxtaposed in a pool setting. There is a strong undercurrent of love among the family members and it's reflected in the water and buoyancy of the waves. It's a joyous occasion and Ms. Boswell wants to show the familial with a quiet reverence. Please enjoy these as well as others.
