Art Basel Miami 2024

Art Basel Miami is always eventful and this year was no different. It's not surprising that the art fair draws artists from around the world. It's truly a must-see and when you view the artworks below you'll know why. Take for example the luminous rendering of a cityscape by Mark Innerst in On Locust. The city shimmers like jewelry in the night sky. It could be any city but the dazzling lights give the painting a new dimension. The cityscape is alight and we see the beauty of the skyscrapers compared to the lower vicinity. There's a breakdown in the composition and we can only wonder where this is. It is most likely NYC and all the signs point in that direction. It never sleeps and the lights make it so.

Winold Reiss's Portrait of Robert Nathaniel Dett, personifies dignity and composure at its finest. Mr. Robert Nathaniel Dett was a Canadian-American musician who is well regarded to this day.  Mr. Reiss captures him with perfect ease as Mr. Dett poses relaxed and almost removed from his ever day setting. He is impeccably dressed and his brilliance is as palpable as much as the artist who painted him. Mr. Reiss celebrates Mr. Dett's career with this portrait and it's a work that should really hang in a museum.

In Pheobe Boswell's to know love we see harmony and union juxtaposed in a pool setting. There is a strong undercurrent of love among the family members and it's reflected in the water and buoyancy of the waves. It's a joyous occasion and Ms. Boswell wants to show the familial with a quiet reverence. Please enjoy these as well as others.

Untitled Art, Miami Beach, 2024

Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2024 is one of the leading art fairs happening in Miami alongside Art Miami and Art Basel Miami. It brings together galleries and artists from all over the world. Here, I was pleased to find Canadian artist Andrew Dadson whose Drifting Point is a mesmerizing abstract work reminiscent of the clean lines and colour palette of Davide Balliano. I like the clean lines and curvature of the waves. A touch of colour doesn't hurt. It's just beautiful. Meanwhile, Moroccan artist Omar Mahfoudi in Like Birds, 2024 tests the beauty of nature. He celebrates his environment and his joyful painting shows foliage together with birds enjoying the moment. It's a serene setting and I wish to see more work from this artist. In Cuban artist's Diango Hernandez, Window V, 2024, we see a water-like effect painted to perfection. It's a wonderful work, full of indistinct elements. The colours work really well together and in turn bring the painting into balance. His is a unique technique and the blurry effect dazzles. Enjoy these and other paintings.
